Forsthaus Wannsee –
the perfect starting point for your explorations

Our hotel Forsthaus Wannsee is the ideal starting point for many discovery tours to the capital Berlin, the Brandenburg’s regional capital Potsdam and their stunning foresty and water-rich surroundings.
Combine the enjoyment of nature’s beauty with fascinating tours of the unique and moving (cultural) history of the area.

Discover the History of the Liebermann-Villa
and the place of the Wannsee Conference

You may visit the Wannsee mansion of the famous German impressionist painter Max Liebermann. He fell in love with the scenic mansion quarter where he spent the summer months until his death in 1935. After the following eventful decades with many changes the building was restored to its original glory and is now open to the public as art gallery, museum and garden.
In close proximity to the Liebermann Villa you can also find the former Fabrikantenvilla where the so called Wannsee conference took place in 1942. The mansion is currently a memorial and educational facility with vast documentations of the genocide of the European jews during the Nazi period.

Golf holiday and relaxation on water

You want to use your Wannsee holiday to improve on your golf handicap? Great idea! The Golf und Land-Club Berlin-Wannsee e.V. which was founded in 1895 will be the perfect place for you. It’s one of Germany’s largest and most renowned golf and country clubs. Combine your stay at hotel Forsthaus Wannsee with a visit to the 27-hole course situated in a lush foresty landscape with smooth hills and a great mix of varied lanes.

And of course we highly recommend using your stay to enjoy the many water sport possibilities the Wannsee lake has to offer. Sailing, surfing, rowing, swimming, stand up paddling or maybe just a relaxing cruise on a steam boat promise to be the perfect way to enjoy the beauty of the Wannsee nature.

The capital Berlin

Stroll through Berlin – a city which seems to re-invent itself on a daily basis – and therefor can be re-discovered over and over again. It almost seems that today nothing is as it was just yesterday. But of course you will also be able to find century old landmarks set in stone, architectural memorials, art and culture. Visit the Museums Island and the Bundestag parliament, take a walk down the Kudamm or Unter den Linden. Go shopping and discover the many gardens and parks which make Berlin one of the greenest cities in the world. Enjoy the many events, restaurants and coffee shops where you’ll have time to recharge your batteries.

Discover the Movie City Babelsberg and Potsdam

In just a few minutes by car, bus or S-Bahn you can reach the media city Babelsberg – which in the beginning of the 20th century was home to the famous historic UFA movie studios. Why not embarking on a studio tour and awe at the stage designs and props? And with a bit of luck you might even spot a Hollywood star or starlette as Babelsberg is once again a busy movie production facility and birth place to Oscar awarded films.

Our hotel Forsthaus Wannsee is ideal for exploration tours of Potsdam too. At the edge of Berlin the city seemed doomed to be forgotten and to fall in disrepair just about 30 years ago. But the city was restored to its former glory and is now a must-see destination for our guests who live in such close vicinity to the Potsdam city border. Walk in the foot steps of Friedrich the Great in Sanssouci, enjoy the view from Belvedere, visit the lively Dutch quarter (Holländerviertel) or the Cecilienhof castle, and cross the legendary Glienicke “Bridge of Spies”.

Berlin and Potsdam – melting pots of politics, culture and science – not many places can keep up with their vast array of historic traces – still alive today. The list of must-see highlights is long . Our team from Forsthaus Wannsee will be happy to assist you in arranging the perfect sightseeing tours for you!
